Wolfen North was built in the 1960s as a prefabricated housing estate for the workers of the Wolfen film factory. In 1989, 35,000 people lived here, today there are just under 6,000. Hardly any other place in the east has experienced a more radical upheaval of shrinkage and emigration than this district. On the edge of the district is the 84 youth club, which was founded in 1984 and has been an important social meeting place ever since, as well as the community meadow of the Protestant Christophorushaus, which was built for EXPO 2000.

The Wolfen Nord e.V. association, which runs the club, describes its local mission as “shaping the future where the past is the present”. They develop a mission from the location and actively shape the future by creating an environment of exchange and community.

As part of OSTEN PLUS, we are showing the Morning Clubs and the retrospective by Thomas Heise in cooperation with Wolfen Nord e.V.
