Thomas Heise

Thomas Heise, born in 1955 in East Berlin, is a documentary filmmaker and theater director. He was a member of the Berliner Ensemble from 1993 to 1998 and a full professor of art and film at the HfG Karlsruhe and the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna from 2007 to 2022. His films have received numerous festival awards. His most recent work, “Heimat ist ein Raum aus Zeit” (2019), also won a number of international and German awards.
