The Akademie der Künste Berlin ‘s KUNSTWELTEN education program is in line with the Academy’s mission to have a public impact. It is aimed at children, young people and adults and draws on the diversity and interplay of the works and experiences of the Academy’s members, scholarship holders, artist archives and collections. Guided tours and introductions, talks, workshops and artistic activities bring the themes and projects of the Academy and its members closer. Artists from all sections meet children and young people with empathy, arousing their curiosity and enthusiasm. They present their works to them and work with them in art workshops. Artists have been inviting children and young people from the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district to creative encounters for 15 years. Many hundreds of schoolchildren have taken part in meaningful programs and tried their hand at writing, photography, drawing, composing, improvising, dancing, creating sound installations, collages, postcards, radio plays and films, discovering new things and experiencing the joy of intensive engagement with art. Under the motto “Art every week”, KUNSTWELTEN will continue its collaboration with the district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld in 2024. The program, which has been successfully introduced to children, young people, teachers, parents and partners, will take place every week at a school in the district until the Christmas vacations. This even greater intensity is made possible by the financial support of the Commissioner for Culture and Media Claudia Roth for a successful structural strengthening process in the coal region.

KUNSTWELTEN is participating in the OSTEN festival with the installation 1 AND 2 AND 3 AND…, for which the artists Kristiane Petersmann and Moritz Nitsche have built interactive listening stations with pupils from Sonnenlandschule and Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium, and with the installation ÜBER DAS GLÜCK, for which the artists Angela González and Matthias Matthias Künzler have created the installation:Angela González and Matthias Luthardt made animated films about happiness together with pupils from the Sekundarschule I and an open workshop where visitors can create short animated films under the guidance of Angela González and Matthias Luthardt.

The long-term project Kunstwelten im Landkreis Anhalt-Bitterfeld is a cooperation between the Akademie der Künste Berlin, the district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld (cultural office) and Chemiepark Bitterfeld-Wolfen GmbH
