FRAGE DES TAGES: SIND SO KLEINE HÄNDE?
During the development of the Wolfen film factory, the management tried to attract women* to the core workforce by offering social services. These offers were continuously expanded after 1945 due to the shortage of workers: these included the company’s own laundry, weekly crèches and an in-house tailoring shop. Women* qualified here as skilled workers, foremen and engineers. In retrospect, the Wolfen film factory is often glorified as a model feminist company. Nevertheless, “Die Film”, as it was also known, was never a place of true emancipation: the working conditions were harmful to health and patriarchal ideas of gender, gender roles and marriage dominated here too. Based on the artistic works of the hannsjana collective and the video installation by Lynn T Musiol, we question clichés and myths about gender that persist to this day.
