Industrie- und Filmmuseum Wolfen

Since the first idea for the OSTEN festival, the Industry and Film Museum in Wolfen has been an important partner for concrete projects, but also as an authority that collects traces and works against disappearance.

The IFM is one of the most important places of industrial culture in Saxony-Anhalt. It is located on the site of the former Wolfen film factory and shows the production of photographic film in authentic production rooms with original equipment. AGFA produced the world’s first universally usable color film here in 1936. The factory was also one of the first and largest manufacturers of synthetic fibers. The museum documents this as well as the regional industrial history. More than 800 historical cameras and projectors are presented in a “treasure chamber”. The Wolfen Industrial and Film Museum is an institution of the district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld.

What images of the East do we have and which ones do we want to draw? For our festival, Sven Sachenbacher, Director of the Wolfen Industrial and Film Museum and the Bitterfeld District Museum, told us about his personal PICTURE OF THE EAST.
