Viviana Medina

Viviana Medina is a director and author, she was born in Havana and grew up in Friedrichroda in Thuringia as the daughter of a Cuban contract worker and an East German mother. She studied at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts and focuses on intersectionality, post-colonialism, the visibility of black people and Afro-East German perspectives. She performed her graduation play “Beloved” during the 48h Neukölln art festival in 2022. A modern, post-slave Medea story, from a Black introspective. Her performance “C.V.” ran at the Akademie der Künste as part of the Berliner Festspiele 2023, and she also worked at Theaterdiscounter and Ballhaus Naunynstraße.
