Biologist Moritz Mittelbach, artist Markus Mai and cultural scientist Jo Preußler came together as a collective in 2020 to map places abandoned by humans from three different perspectives. At the OSTEN festival, they are working on the project LÄSUREN: short audio pieces about layers of earth, enclosures, injuries and thresholds.

Markus Mai, born 1973 in Berlin, is a visual artist. He specializes in painting and sculpture. Moritz Mittelbach is a biologist and investigates the spread of microbial pathogens on urban trees in Berlin. Jo Preußler studied Modern German Literature and Cultural Studies, he is co-founder of the Graffiti Museum (2001), part of the artist collective zeit_genossen and the video club network.
