WE ARE ALL DETROIT – VOM BLEIBEN UND VERSCHWINDEN
The two very different cities – Bochum, the city in the Ruhr region, and Detroit, the city in the Rust Belt – have one important thing in common: the upswing and the end of the automotive industry have left their mark on both Detroit and Bochum. The industry is disappearing, what remains are the people. Ulrike Franke and Michael Loeken spent six years collecting stories and images from Bochum and Detroit. The result is a documentary that tells of the search for a new identity. Through precision and attention to detail, the film also achieves great universality. What is told here as an example from Detroit and Bochum is also well known to the people of Bitterfeld-Wolfen: The search for a dignified and happy existence in times of social and economic upheaval.
The screening will be followed by a discussion.
