Diakonieverein e.V. Bitterfeld-Wolfen-Gräfenhainichen was founded on April 6, 1991 as a non-profit organization for Protestant social work based in Wolfen and now has more than 320 employees. They are divided between the association and the subsidiaries DIAKONIE Soziale Dienste gGmbH and DIAKONIE ERZIEHUNG und BILDUNG gGmbH. In addition to the recognized workshop for people with disabilities at the Wolfen and Gräfenhainichen sites with a total of almost 500 employees, it also includes various residential facilities for people with disabilities or senior citizens, outpatient care services, family counselling/support, youth and family support as well as a Protestant primary school and a community school and a Protestant kindergarten.
