The association was founded on January 14, 1960 as the “Workers’ Theatre of the Wolfen Film Factory”. Until 1989, around 30 productions and short programs of all genres, such as fairy tales, classics, crime thrillers and contemporary plays, were performed. After reunification, the name was changed to “Amateurtheater Wolfen”. The transformation into a registered association based in the Wolfen Municipal House of Culture took place in 1993/94. We have our own stage in the Rangfoyer of the Städtisches Kulturhaus Wolfen. Mainly fairy tale productions, but also short programs such as one-act plays are performed.
