Isabelle Schad

Isabelle Schad, born in Stuttgart in 1970, is a dancer and choreographer. After training in ballet at the John Cranko School in Stuttgart, she initially worked in classical ensembles before devoting herself increasingly to contemporary dance and dancing for Belgian star choreographer Wim Vandekeybus, among others. Since 1999, she has been initiating her own projects, which can be seen in theatrical and museum contexts worldwide. The focus is on the body in its materiality, processuality and tangibility, but also on the relationship between body, choreography and (re-)presentation as well as community building and political engagement. In 2019, she was honored with the German Dance Award for her outstanding artistic development in contemporary dance.
