HANNSJANA

As the artist collective HANNSJANA, Laura Besch, Jule Gorke, Lotte Schüßler, Katharina Siemann and Marie Weich have been producing performances, audio tours and video works together since 2011. They always deal with complex topics and multi-layered places in a humorous, musical and scientific way. Their works have been shown at the Sophiensæle Berlin, the Nationaltheater Mannheim, the Lucerne Theater and the inclusive Theater Thikwa in Berlin, among others.

Marie Weich, born in 1987 in Alsfeld, studied theater studies at the Free University of Berlin and sculpture at the weißensee academy of art berlin. Since 2011, she has been working as part of the artist collective hannsjana as a director, author, performer, songwriter, sound designer and make-up artist.

Jule Gorke, born in Weimar in 1990, is now an author, performer and theater scholar. She has been part of the feminist performance collective hannsjana since 2011. Since 2019, she has been a research associate at the Collaborative Research Center “Affective Societies” at Freie Universität Berlin, where she researches the aesthetics of the feminist manifesto in contemporary theater.

Laura Besch, who grew up in Salzburg, studied German language and literature, music theory and human medicine in Berlin. She has been producing performances, performative concerts and audio walks with her performance collective hannsjana since 2013. She has been artistic co-director of Theater Thikwa since June 2023.

Katharina Siemann, born in Wolfsburg in 1988, studied theater studies and general and comparative literature at the Free University of Berlin. She has been developing productions, choreographies and texts for her collective hannsjana since 2011.

Àngela Ribera Adrover studied stage and costume design at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona. She has lived in Berlin since 2014 and works as a set designer for musical theater, experimental performances and cinema productions. She has worked with Doris Uhlich, P14-Volksbühne, andcompany& Co, hannsjana, Erika Lust, Swoosh Lieu, Virtuelles Theater and DieOrdnungDerDinge, among others.

Judith Geffert, born 1989 in Magdeburg, is a freelance radio author. She studied literature and theater studies, as well as culture and history of Central and Eastern Europe in Berlin and Frankfurt (Oder). Her work operates at the interface between journalism, science and art. Since 2013, she has been producing features, storytelling podcasts and experimental documentaries for Deutschlandradio, rbbkultur and independent radio stations. She is also co-curator of the exhibition ‘Together we are unbearable. The Independent Women’s Movement in the GDR’, which opened in Berlin in 2023.

@nnast_antn is a video and performance artist and set designer. Her film sorry about the saliva >< (2019) was shown at MicroActs Festival in London, GRRL HAUS CINEMA in Berlin and at Festival Bodies in Trouble at Pact Zollverein Essen. Her performances have been shown at Dirty Debut at Ballhaus Ost, Studio Schaubühne Berlin, as part of the Next Wave Theater at Volksbühne Berlin and in the Pogo Bar series at KW Berlin. Together with Josephin Hanke she is working on the SCi-Fi series LEADERS*, the pilot episode of which was shown at Filmfest Braunschweig and the exhibition REELISM in roam, Berlin.
