Asta Vonderau

Asta Vonderau, born in Vilnius in 1972, is an ethnologist. She has been a professor at the Department of Anthropology at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg since 2018. She is also Managing Director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Regional Studies (ZIRS) and the Institute for Structural Change and Sustainability (HALIS) at MLU. She is currently researching the environmental and social consequences of (de)industrialization and structural change, particularly in the Central German lignite mining area and chemical triangle.
