Caroline Ektander & Stephan Thierbach
Caroline Ektander, born in 1982, is a Swedish curator and architect who has lived in Berlin since 2011. In her work, she deals with the phenomenon and conditions of toxicity and how they manifest themselves. She is currently working on her doctorate at the Bauhaus University Weimar on the question of how to develop a more diverse form of contaminated site remediation – using Bitterfeld as a case study.
Stephan Thierbach, born and raised in Berlin-Pankow, was a master student of fine arts with Natascha Sadr Haghighian at the HfK-Bremen. His work, which often manifests itself through an immersive approach, repeatedly deals with the genesis of man-made (cultural) landscapes. Using a potato stove from a pig farm, Thierbach has already artistically investigated the soil of the Berlin Rieselfelder and the Ruschdahlmoor in Bremen.
