Anna Zett & Hermann Heisig

Anna Zett, born 1983 in Leipzig, is an artist and writer living in Berlin. Her work combines analytical subjectivity and poetic form with a playful physical practice. This results in videos, audio pieces, texts, objects as well as participatory formats of choreography, installation and conversation. With her work she has been a guest at festivals, museums and project spaces worldwide. Her publications include two (German-language) experimental radio plays and an (English-language) literary text collection.

Hermann Heisig is a choreographer, dancer and performer. Born in Leipzig in 1981, he became interested in contemporary dance there in the late 1990s and performed numerous self-taught solo performances in galleries and clubs. From this emerged an idiosyncratic movement vocabulary that defies efficiency and sparks from elements of loss of control, as well as voluntary and involuntary comedy.  With his choreographic works, he has been active in Europe and beyond for over 15 years.

Since 2020, Anna Zett and Hermann Heisig have been jointly developing the artistic research project Resonanz – Post-Socialist Group Improvisation. The participatory format Resonanz Assembly is both research material and successive result of this process. In a play situation with changing participants, personal, historical and speculative associations to the former German state GDR are jointly activated, shared, answered and released on a verbal and non-verbal level.
